Clerkships
Gilpin Givhan hires most of its new associates through our summer clerkship program, which provides law students with an authentic and substantive introduction to practicing law at the firm. Our six-week program immerses clerks in real client matters across our core practice areas, allowing them to work alongside attorneys at all levels and gain exposure to sophisticated tax, business, public finance, health care, and real estate issues.
Clerks receive meaningful assignments, opportunities to attend client meetings and internal strategy sessions, and regular feedback from supervising attorneys. Our goal is to provide an experience that closely reflects the responsibilities and expectations of a first-year associate at Gilpin Givhan.
Social events throughout the summer introduce clerks to the River Region, local leaders, and other members of the Montgomery bar—offering a well-rounded understanding of both the firm and the environment in which we practice.
Recruiting & On-Campus Interviews
Our attorneys interview at in-state law schools each fall and spring, and we actively recruit at top LL.M. tax programs across the country. In recent years, we have conducted on-campus interviews at New York University School of Law (Tax Program), University of Florida Levin College of Law (Tax Program), and other regional and national law schools
If we do not interview on your campus, we welcome direct inquiries. Candidates may send a résumé, transcript, and cover letter to:
