Alex is an associate in the firm's Taxation, and Business & Corporate, and Economic Development & Public Finance practice areas. Alex primarily advises clients on state and local tax matters including economic incentives, sales and use taxes, income taxes, property taxes, and multijurisdictional issues.
Prior to law school, Alex graduated with an accounting degree from Birmingham-Southern College. There, he worked as an accounting intern both in-house and in public accounting firm settings, with a particular focus on tax. During law school, his passion for tax law prompted him to co-found the University of Richmond’s Tax Law Society, which hosted speakers from the Virginia legislature and the Virginia tax department.
Outside the office, Alex enjoys watching hockey, playing board games, and hanging out with his cat Skip.

- Interned for multiple years with the Virginia Department of Taxation within its policy and administrative appeals division.
- Externed with the IRS Office of Chief Counsel in Richmond handling US Tax Court and IRS collection oversight matters.
- Externed with the Community Tax Law Project—a Low Income Taxpayer Clinic—assisting indigent taxpayers before the IRS and Virginia Department of Taxation.
