OIG Publishes Booklet for Physicians

Thursday, November 11, 2010

The Office of Inspector General (OIG) for the Department of Health and Human Services has published a comprehensive booklet for "new" physicians providing guidance on how to comply with vaious Federal fraud and abuse laws. The “Roadmap” is basically a primer for physicians and physician practices regarding Stark, Anti-Kickback, False Claims and other “fraud and abuse” compliance matters.  The fraud and abuse rules can impact physician relationships with payers, vendors and other providers, and many other areas of physician practice.

In particular, OIG dedicates a page to physician compliance programs, and includes a number of links to additional compliance program guidance.   Review the Booklet in our Resources section.
