Mr. Graves practices primarily in the areas of Municipal and Public Finance in Alabama. He routinely serves as bond counsel, bank counsel or underwriter’s counsel in both public offerings and private placements of debt for cities, counties, boards of education, utility systems, municipal solid waste authorities, hospital systems, and public building authorities. Mr. Graves has extensive experience in commercial development financing through the utilization of public conduit entities such as industrial development boards, improvement districts, redevelopment authorities and cooperative districts. Mr. Graves also assists both public bodies and private entities with respect to various state and local legislative issues and economic development projects. 

 

In addition, Mr. Graves represents businesses in a broad range of transactions, including joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, reorganizations, succession planning and general tax planning. In this practice, Mr. Graves advises entrepreneurs and businesses in all aspects of tax planning from entity formation and acquisition to wealth transfers and estate planning. Mr. Graves also has experience representing clients in structuring the acquisition and sale of businesses with regard to complex debt workouts and advising and assisting clients with various issues involving deferred compensation plans.
