Update regarding the final rules recently issued by (i) the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services ("CMS") defining "meaningful use" of certified electronic health records ("EHRs"); and (ii) the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology ("ONC") establishing initial certification standards and a temporary EHR certification program for the Medicare / Medicaid payment incentives programs available to certain physicians and other "eligible providers" under the Health Information Technology Education and Clinical Health ("HITECH") Act of 2009.
