In 1983, Montgomery native Sam Kaufman, a graduate of the University of Chicago and the University of Alabama School of Law, founded a new law firm in Montgomery with a distinctive focus on taxation and commercial real estate. From the outset, the firm offered a sophisticated perspective on representing businesses and industry, quickly expanding both the scope of its practice and its reputation across Alabama.

Today, that firm is known as Gilpin Givhan, PC. More than forty years later, we continue to provide forward-thinking, solutions-oriented counsel to clients with complex legal needs. Based in Montgomery, we serve clients throughout Alabama and across the region—ranging from sole proprietors and family-owned enterprises to publicly traded companies, international organizations, and the individuals who own and lead them.
