Montgomery & the River Region

Montgomery was named one of the best medium sized cities in America by Money Magazine’s “Best Places to Live in America 1998.” Alabama's capital city offers a world-class theatre, museums, history, professional golf courses, family activities and irresistible down-home Southern food.

Montgomery is also a regional trade and transportation hub, home of a major United States Air Force Base and Air War College, the heart of state government, and home to Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama, Hyundai’s only North American plant.

Alabama Shakespeare Festival
As the State Theatre of Alabama, the Festival serves as a major educational resource and lifelong learning center for the Southeast. Entertaining audiences from school children through adults. ASF also offers various publications, the SchoolFest program, and other educational opportunities.
Downtown Montgomery
Montgomery is dramatically revitalizing its downtown and is home to the Riverwalk & Amphitheatre which frequently hosts outdoor concerts and celebrations. Downtown Montgomery is also home to the Renaissance Hotel and Convention Center. The Center features the Montgomery Performing Arts Center which hosts widely recognized artists and events.

Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce
The local area Chamber of Commerce provides an environment to encourage involvement and volunteerism. The Chamber web site has demographic, school and real estate information and more.
Montgomery Biscuits Baseball
Montgomery’s AA Minor League Baseball Team. The Biscuits are a Tampa Bay Devil Rays affiliate with two consecutive Southern Championships and the finest stadium in the conference.
Montgomery Zoo
Completely renovated in 1991 and enlarged from 6 to 40 acres, the Montgomery Zoo is a barrier free home to over 700 animals from five continents.
Old Alabama Town
A collection of over forty restored Alabama structures depicting life in the 19th and early 20th centuries.

Lake Martin
Just a short drive from Montgomery, Lake Martin is an over 39,000 acre lake with 700 miles of wooded shoreline. Lake Martin is the perfect recreation lake with swimming, boating, fishing, water skiing and so much more.

Enjoy the sugar white sands and emerald waters of Alabama‘s gorgeous Gulf Coast. Just a short drive from Montgomery, these beautiful beaches are truly spectacular. Play on the beach during the day and feast on fresh seafood for dinner.
Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail
With 11 championship golf courses, the Robert Trent Jones golf trail makes Alabama a golfer‘s paradise. Montgomery is conveniently located to three of these courses – Capitol Hill in Prattville, Cambrian Ridge in Greenville and Grand National in Opelika. The other trails include Magnolia Grove in Mobile, Lakewood Golf Club in Point Clear, Highland Oaks in Dothan, Silver Lakes in Anniston, The Shoals in Muscle Shoals and Hampton Cove in Huntsville.
